Printable Coloring Pages

90 printables · $2.99–$4.99

Coloring books you print at home, one picture to a page. Because they're files, you can print the same page for every child at the table, or print a favorite again after it's been colored in. Pages with thick outlines and open space suit crayons and small hands, and busier pages give older kids and adults more to fill. There's a whole shelf of vehicle books, from excavators to sailboats, and another of space and science, from cartoon rockets to labeled cell diagrams, along with animals, holidays and fine-lined cozy scenes for adults. Plain printer paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils; for markers, a heavier paper keeps the ink from bleeding through. Print at 100 percent so the picture stays inside the border.

Bold and simple, or fine and busy

Line work decides who a book suits.

Four are drawn for young children. Ocean Coloring Book puts one sea animal or beach object on each of its 50 pages, with a thick outline and almost no background. Kawaii Animals Coloring Book works the same way with 50 big-eyed chibi animals, one per page. Kawaii Ocean Babies and Woodland Animals both open with single animals and then move into small scenes, and both covers mark them for ages 3 to 8. Christmas Magic also keeps to thick outlines, and the printing guides for Fruity Little Adventures and Little Lovely World give ages 3 to 7.

Four go the other way, with finer lines and whole scenes to fill. Fairy Garden draws texture into everything, from bark and stone to fern fronds. Cozy Witch Shop is mostly still life: bottles, spellbooks, drying herbs and crystals in one candlelit shop. Dessert Town and Mushroom Village each build a whole little town, with animals running the shops. Mushroom Village prints no title or page number near the art, so a finished page can go straight into a square frame.

Four more lean toward adults. Cozy November and Winter Cozy fill knit throws, wood grain and snowy branches with fine texture. Bloom & Cozy sets its bouquets inside rooms, gardens and a little flower shop, and Coffee & Cozy starts with close-up cups before widening out to cafés and evening streets.

Back to School Coloring Pages sits in between, with one scene per page inside a dotted border. So does Tiny Kingdom, which follows a princess, a prince, a little knight and a baby dragon, and Ghost Town Adventure, which is cute rather than spooky, with thick outlines but streets packed with cottages and lampposts.

Vehicle coloring books

Most follow one pattern: 24 scenes of the same machine in different places, eight Easy, eight Normal and eight Hard, where the level is mostly how much scenery surrounds it. City Bus, School Bus and Garbage Truck are instead 24 pages in four themed chapters of six, and Cute Airplanes for Preschool gives every plane a face across 36 pages.

The semi truck trailers are left blank for a made-up company name, and every hot air balloon is a pattern waiting to be filled.

Space: telling the sets apart

A dozen books are about space. Some are cartoon and some realistic, and each centers on people, ships or places.

Cartoon. Space Coloring Pages follows smiling astronauts on one mission from launch day to splashdown, and Solar System Coloring Pages keeps the planets as simple round shapes inside labeled diagrams of eclipses, moon phases and planet order. Spaceship is five made-up ships, each drawn from six angles in thick outlines, with no people. Alien has no astronauts or rockets either: 30 friendly creatures bake, paint and fix buggies in invented towns.

Realistic people and ships. Astronaut Coloring Pages is the grown-up version of that cartoon crew, with adult astronauts in fine line: ten pages of training, then station life, spacewalks and five pages on the Moon. Space Shuttle tells one shuttle mission from the hangar to the tow back after landing, with no logos on the hardware. Spacecraft imagines future ships instead: eleven empty rooms on board, then ships docking, refueling and reaching into an asteroid.

Places. Planet Coloring Pages is a tour of 30 close-ups, such as Mercury's craters or Jupiter's Great Red Spot. Three books stay in one place for all 30 designs. Mercury goes from craters and cliffs to polar ice, the metal core and the spacecraft that mapped it. Saturn covers storms, the rings, Titan, Enceladus and five more moons. Moon studies the lunar ground the way a geologist might, with craters, rilles and lava tubes but no phases. Galaxy has no planets at all, only galaxies, star clusters and nebulae drawn in tiny dots and threads.

Sky as decoration. Sun and Moon is celestial fantasy, not astronomy: calm-faced suns and crescent moons worked into a garden gate, a ship's sails or a whale. In Moonlight the full moon is only a circle above quiet lakes, villages and cozy rooms.

If you'd rather not fill black skies, check the color references: Moon's outdoor scenes and the shuttle's orbit pages are black, while Galaxy and Spaceship stay pale.

Science, nature and the body

Labeled diagrams. Biology moves from inside a cell to plants, fungi, life cycles and a pond food web, and Chemistry draws atoms, molecules and mixtures as circles, bonds and particle boxes. Water Cycle follows rain through 30 different places, from a glacier-fed river to a city block, with small labels for confident readers. Digestive System is clean outline diagrams with plenty of white space, and Human Heart labels chambers, valves and vessels, with 11 of its 30 designs finely shaded. Anatomy Coloring Book looks most like a textbook: 30 shaded studies, 16 of them the skeleton and joints, with a list of four parts to find beside each drawing. Dental opens with seven labeled tooth diagrams, then switches to 23 cartoon scenes of brushing, flossing and trips to the dentist. None of these has blanks to fill in.

Scenes. Science Coloring Pages puts the same two cartoon kids on every page with magnets, prisms, circuits and simple machines, while Scientist shows realistic adults on an ordinary lab day. Kids Playing is portrait scenes of children listening to birds, running, tying shoelaces and falling asleep, with no body diagrams. Robot has 30 invented machines at work in greenhouses, reefs and libraries, and Technology shows trains, wind turbines and data centers with no people anywhere. Fossil is mostly shells, corals and plants on slabs of rock, with a single dinosaur bone. Weather gives each scene one kind of weather, from seven cloud types to five instrument pages, and Nature is 30 places on Earth, from a delta to a reef, most with an animal in front.

Pages that do more than color

Back to School ends with two fill-in pages and has a 2-per-page file that halves the paper for a class set. Kawaii Ocean Babies and Woodland Animals finish with a page to name your own animal, and Christmas Magic, Tiny Kingdom and Ghost Town Adventure close on a certificate with a line for a name. Bloom & Cozy and Coffee & Cozy each add ten extras, among them mandalas and a bucket list.

Colored versions

Many books include a colored version of every design, and how it's packed changes how you print. In Tiny Kingdom, Bloom & Cozy, Coffee & Cozy, Ghost Town Adventure, most vehicle books and Anatomy, Human Heart, Dental, Fossil, Weather, Robot, Technology, Mercury, Moon, Sun and Moon, Moonlight, Space Shuttle and Spaceship, each outline is followed by its colored page, so printing odd pages only gives you a stack of outlines. Christmas Magic, Fruity Little Adventures, Little Lovely World, the chapter-style vehicle books and the other space and science books keep the colored pages in a separate file.

Printing

Every book except Cozy Witch Shop comes in both US Letter and A4; on A4 paper, print that one with Fit to Page. Print the rest at 100 percent, with the space and science books turned to landscape (Kids Playing is the one portrait book among them); How to print at actual size shows where that setting is. Print single-sided, and use heavier paper for markers; Which paper to use for printables covers the weights.
