These are present-day sports cars: low noses, swept-back windshields, big alloy wheels and smooth curved panels with no badges. The body style shifts through the set, so you get open two-seat roadsters and spiders with the top down, rounded rear-engine-style coupes, long-hood grand tourers, targa tops with a roof bar behind the seats and a few sharp mid-engine cars with side air intakes.
Where they are parked
The car sits in the front half of every page and the scene behind it sets the level. Easy pages 01–08 have open backgrounds: a beach with a sun umbrella, a park bench, a mountain road, a lake jetty with a picnic basket, a garden gate, a desert rock arch, an apple orchard and a lighthouse point. Normal pages 09–16 add a home garage with tools on the wall, a marina with sailboats, a wooden bridge by a waterfall, a cafe terrace, a vineyard at sunset, a surf shack with a hammock, an autumn lake and a windmill meadow with hay bales. Hard pages 17–24 are busy squares and gardens: a boulevard of blossom trees, a harbor festival with bunting, a mountain chalet with a backpack on the ground, a desert oasis with palm trees and pottery, a glasshouse pavilion, a city riverside at night, an autumn village with pumpkins and a hilltop observatory.
Ideas for coloring
The colored references go bright on the bodies (red, yellow, turquoise, purple, lime), and a few use a second color for the nose or a stripe. With no logos on the cars, you can add your own racing stripes or a number. Print landscape at Actual Size; the outline is always the odd page in the paired books.
