These moonlight coloring pages are night scenes of places, and the moon is only a round shape in the corner of the sky. What fills the page is a dock on a still lake, a snowed-in village, a fishing harbor, a window seat with a sleeping cat. There are no people in any of them, so each scene feels like the quiet hour after everyone has gone to bed.
The 30 scenes
| Kind of scene | Designs |

| Towns, gardens and open country | 04 lighthouse and cottage, 06 desert tent with rugs and a teapot, 07 snowy village, 08 rooftop garden over a domed city, 10 train platform, 11 greenhouse, 17 windmill and wheat field, 19 courtyard fountain, 20 apple orchard, 22 bamboo garden gate, 25 stone ruin arches, 30 tent and camp chairs above a river valley |

On the indoor pages the moon is seen through a window, and two of them (03 and 24) have a cat curled up asleep.
How detailed the drawings are
The lines are fine and the pages are full: leaves, cobblestones, wood grain, rug patterns, rows of bread. Big flat areas are mostly sky and water. On many pages the moon is drawn with soft surface patches, while on designs 01 and 02 it’s a plain circle you can fill any way you like.
What the color pages show
Every reference uses a deep navy sky and a pale yellow moon, then adds warm light where there would be lamps: the canal town’s windows, the greenhouse, the bakery. On the lake, harbor and river scenes a bright streak of moonlight runs across the water, a handy thing to copy if you’re not sure how to shade reflections. If you want a different look, the drawings work just as well with a dusky purple sky or soft grays.
Questions
- Is the moon the main subject?
- No. The moon is a round shape in the sky of every page, and the scene below it is what you color most. The start-here notes say the moon's size, surface and lighting are artistic, not astronomy or moon-phase diagrams, and every page shows it full.
- How do I print just the drawings?
- Print the odd-numbered pages. Page numbers run 1 to 60 across the two PDFs, and each even page is the color version of the drawing before it.
