A backhoe loader has two jobs, and these pages show both. Some scenes have it scooping with the wide bucket on the front; others turn the machine around so the jointed digging arm at the back is the star, cutting a trench or a hole for a new house. The tractor-style body has big rear tires and smaller front ones, so the machine breaks into clear shapes to fill.
Where the backhoe works
- Easy (01–08): a country road, a garden path, a little farm project, a sandbox in the park, a village road repair, orchard groundwork, a lakeside path and a beach
- Normal (09–16): a materials yard, a woodland trail crew, a drainage ditch on a farm, two pipe-laying jobs in town and village, soil for a greenhouse, a hillside lane and a harbor path
- Hard (17–24): a house foundation dig, a village water main, a community garden build, a riverside walkway, an old town courtyard, orchard irrigation, a coastal visitor center and a country workshop yard
The Hard pages put more around the machine, such as pipes, fences, buildings and stacked materials, but the backhoe itself keeps a clear outline on every page.
Printing and coloring
Set the printer to landscape and 100% scale. In the 48-page books, odd pages are outlines and even pages show one way to color them. Use the single-page PDFs or PNGs if you want just one scene.
