The boats in this set are the kind you see tied up in a small harbor: wooden hulls, a little wheelhouse with round windows, a mast with rigging, and decks piled with nets, rope, crates and lobster pots. A few Easy pages swap the cabin boat for an open skiff with an outboard motor.
Along the coast
Lighthouses turn up again and again, on a rocky point in Lighthouse Morning, at the edge of Rocky Channel and behind The Fishing Coast. Other pages move inland or along the shore: a boat in front of a stone arch bridge in Bridge to the Sea, a skiff pulled up on the sand in Beach Boat Landing, a net laid out on the quay in Coastal Net Repair, and two boats side by side in Twin Harbor Friends.
From one boat to a whole harbor
Easy designs 01–08 put a single boat in the middle of open water with a few rocks, buoys or a dock post. Normal designs 09–16 add the fishing village, a working pier with a net hanging from a boom, and stacked lobster pots. The Hard eight fill every corner. Old Town Fishing Quay has a clock tower and pastel houses, Harbor Market Morning has striped market stalls, Fishermans Workshop sits beside a red boat shed, Nordic Fishing Fjord has mountains and a waterfall, and Moonlit Fishing Bay is the one night scene, with a full moon and stars over the water.
Lots of water to color
Water takes up a large share of most pages, drawn as rows of wavy lines. It’s a good place to try blending two blues or adding your own reflections.
