These dental coloring pages mix two kinds of drawing in one 60-page book. The first seven designs are clean, labeled diagrams of teeth, and the other 23 are full illustrated scenes inside a framed border. Every design is printed as line art and then again in color on the next page.
The seven tooth diagrams
- Primary teeth: upper and lower arches with 10 teeth each
- Permanent teeth: two arches of 16, including the wisdom teeth
- Inside a tooth, labeled crown, enamel, dentin, pulp chamber, root canal, cementum and root
- Supporting a tooth: gum, ligament and the bone around the root
- Four tooth types side by side: incisor, canine, premolar and molar
- Dentin under magnification, with its tiny tubules running toward the pulp
- Natural tooth replacement in three steps, from a baby tooth to the new tooth coming through
On these pages the labels and a short caption are printed as part of the drawing, such as “20 teeth in this complete set; no premolars in primary dentition.” The outlines are simple, with wide open spaces inside each tooth.
The 23 scenes
The scenes are cartoon drawings with whole rooms behind the people: bathroom tiles, towels, plants, shelves and windows. They hold far more small shapes than the diagrams.
| Designs | What’s in the picture |
|---|---|
| 08–10 | Brushing at a bathroom mirror in the morning, brushing in pajamas at night beside a sand timer, and a parent helping a small girl on a step stool |
| 11–15 | Brushing the outer, inner and chewing surfaces of oversized tooth models, flossing between two model teeth, and rinsing a toothbrush under the tap |
| 16–18 | A travel kit packed in a suitcase, a worn brush next to a new one, and a glass of water beside a plate of grilled fillet, grains and vegetables with fruit on the side |
| 19–24 | A checkup in the dental chair, a mother and daughter talking with a hygienist over a tooth model, a dental mirror on a tray of tools, a basketball player with a mouthguard case, a retainer case on a nightstand, and a boy washing his hands |
| 25–30 | Children and a teacher with a tooth book in a library, a person studying a tooth model through a loupe, a tooth in a display case beside a microscope, an older woman brushing at her bathroom sink, a young woman filling in a morning and night routine chart, and three children reading aloud by a piano |
Before you print
The scene pages carry no title, so keep the design index nearby if you want to know which is which. Print odd pages for the line art only, landscape, one page per sheet at Actual Size. The color references use teal, coral and warm wood tones for the scenes and soft pink, yellow and lilac on the diagrams.
Questions
- Are the scenes all of children?
- No. Children appear in several, such as a parent helping a small girl brush at the sink, a boy washing his hands on a step stool and three kids at the end of the set, but most of the daily-care scenes show teens and adults.
- How are the tooth diagrams simplified?
- Page 01 shows 20 baby teeth, 10 in each arch, and page 02 shows 32 adult teeth, 16 in each arch including wisdom teeth. The start-here file notes that real tooth counts vary from person to person, and every diagram is a simplified drawing, not to scale.
