Every page in this set has one monster truck as the main subject, drawn big with the suspension springs, axles and chunky tire tread all visible. The bodies change from page to page: rounded old-style pickups with round headlights, modern pickups with light bars on the roof, boxy SUVs and a tall van body. The panels carry no logos or numbers.
Trails, from easy to busy
The first eight pages put the truck on simple ground: a meadow path, sand dunes with palm trees, a farm road with hay bales, a lake shore, a desert with cactus, an apple orchard and a snowy pine trail. From page 09 the scenes get rockier and wetter, with a boulder climb, a creek crossing, a mud track with ruts, a campground with tents and a practice ramp lined with cones and old tires. Pages 17–24 are the detailed ones: a deep forest with a cabin and a hollow log, a wooden bridge below mountain peaks, a red rock canyon with a lizard, a winter village with a snowman and sled, a flower farm with a windmill, an off-road park with checkered flags, a harbor hill with a lighthouse, and a fairground finish with a Ferris wheel and balloons.
Coloring the tires
The tires fill a big share of every page. The colored reference pages keep them dark gray with silver rims and save the bright reds, purples and teals for the bodies. Print the pages landscape at Actual Size; in the 48-page books the outlines are the odd pages.
