These 50 back to school coloring pages cover the objects, places and small moments of starting a new school year. Each page has a dotted border, one scene and a title in hollow block letters, so coloring the words is part of the page.
What’s on the pages
The set moves in five runs of pages:
- Things you pack. A school bus, a backpack, school supplies with smiling faces, a lunch box, a globe, a calculator showing 1 + 2 = 3, a school bell and a desk.
- In the classroom. Kids reading on a rug, an ABC and 123 chalkboard, art class at an easel, a little scientist with a magnifying glass, music time with a drum and xylophone, and a computer desk.
- The school day. Walking to school, the bus ride, meeting the teacher, recess on the slide, lunch with friends, a raised hand in class, homework at a desk and packing up for tomorrow.
- Message pages. Ten short phrases in a ring of stars, books or pencils: Be Kind, Dream Big, Smart Cookie, School Is Cool and Have a Great School Year!
- Grade pages. Welcome to Preschool, Welcome to Pre-K, Welcome to Kindergarten, then First through Fifth Grade Rocks!
The two fill-in pages
The last two pages are for writing as well as coloring. My First Day of School asks for a name, grade and teacher, shows three faces labeled Happy, Excited and Nervous under “Today I Feel,” and leaves a box to draw yourself. This Is Me! asks for age, favorite color, favorite food and the favorite thing about school, with a larger drawing box underneath.
Picking a file
Use the US Letter or A4 file for full pages. The 2-per-page file puts two designs side by side on a landscape US Letter sheet, so a class set takes half the paper. Cut on the dashed line down the middle. The pages are black line art with no gray fill, so they’re light on toner and copy cleanly. If kids will use markers, print on cardstock.
