What comes in an SVG set
The animal sets share one layout. Botanical Alpaca is typical: 30 designs, each saved as a layered color SVG, a one-color CUT-SVG, a transparent PNG, a DXF and an EPS, plus a design index and a START HERE guide.
- Color SVG and EPS: the artwork as editable vector shapes, often grouped by color, so one selection picks up every gold feather or green leaf. The ladybug and turtle sets keep each of their five colors in its own group.
- One-color version: the same design in a single color. Depending on the set, the folder is called cut, mono, black, solid, single-color or silhouette.
- PNG: a transparent picture for printing and page layouts, 3600 pixels on the long side in most sets.
- DXF: closed outlines for software that asks for that format. Most are set in inches, but the dachshund, goose, pig, jellyfish and starfish DXFs carry no unit, so set the width after you import.
The color file and the one-color file are two versions of one design, so a set of 30 is 30 pictures, not 60. Many sets also include a few lettered sayings, like "HONK MORE WORRY LESS" in the goose set or "SLOW STEPS BIG DAYS" in the turtle set, and the letters are already shapes, with no font to install.
What "one-color" means in each set
Check this before you plan a project.
- Solid silhouettes. In the horse, mouse, squirrel, chicken, groundhog, flamingo, raccoon, duckling and bat sets, each design becomes one filled shape and most inside detail drops away, though the ducklings keep their eyes as small white rings. Props go with it: a duckling's umbrella joins the duck, and the bat's jack-o'-lantern loses its carved face.
- Line drawings. The rubber duck, goose, pig and ladybug mono files keep the dark outline and leave the body open, so they read like coloring-page art, with only bigger dark pieces such as boots, hooves or ladybug spots filled in.
- In between. The alligator mono files are black linework with the spots and ridges filled, except six wild poses that turn almost solid. In the turtle set the shell plates go solid black while the skin stays open.
- Heavier cut versions. The butterfly, cow, elephant and seashell sets are drawn mainly in black and white, with five to eight designs also in color. Their cut folder thickens the lines and closes the smallest gaps, so fine filigree and engraved shading turn into bolder black areas.- Faces kept as openings. The monkey black versions keep eyes, smiles and finger lines as gaps. Panda has three folders: color, a solid mono, and ink, which leaves the white parts open.
Ladybug designs 28 to 30 also come as stacked layers, three to five colors over a black base, with a guide page showing the order.
Painted PNGs and flat vectors
In sets like the fish, chicken, ant, raccoon and squirrel, the PNG is rendered from the vector shapes, so both show the same picture. A few sets were painted first, and there the PNG is the real artwork.
Watercolor Bunny Tea Party, Watercolor Sea Animals, Watercolor Jellyfish and Watercolor Starfish keep the brush texture in the PNG, while their color SVG, EPS and DXF files are traced with far fewer colors and look flatter. Use the PNG for the watercolor look in print, and the vectors when you need shapes to resize or recolor. Vintage Teddy Bear splits the same way: its PNGs keep the fur and knit texture, while the traced vectors go blotchy.
Cream Kitten Clipart goes a step further. Its 20 painted kittens are PNG only, and the SVG, DXF and EPS files are one-color line drawings made separately, so they don't line up on top of the painting. The dinosaur pack adds five watercolor dinosaurs as PNG pictures on top of its 30 vector designs; they can't be edited as shapes or cut.
Several paintings were enlarged to reach their pixel size, so a big file doesn't mean finer brushwork.
Choosing by animal
Farm and country. Chicken has hens, roosters, chicks and a red barn. Cow mixes black and white calves with shaggy Highland cows, pig is pink piglets and piggy banks, and horse runs from galloping horses to ponies and a western saddle. The goose set puts white geese in rain boots, bows and overalls.
Pets. Dog SVG draws twelve breeds as matching charcoal line portraits. Dachshund shows smooth, long and wire coats.
Woodland and garden. Raccoon is a club of 19 round characters. Deer has buck heads, antler sheds and mountain badges, squirrel is all pumpkins, acorns and fall leaves, and in mouse cheese turns up again and again. Groundhog acts out February 2.
Bugs. Ant is a picnic crew with strawberries and an anthill cutaway. Bee sets four true-to-life honey bees beside eight cartoon ones, and butterfly is 30 ornate black and white butterflies. Ladybug is mostly retro cartoon ladybugs with big green eyes, plus three realistic beetles.
Ponds, swamps and the beach. Duckling is fluffy yellow babies waddling behind a mama duck and splashing in rain boots, and alligator is 30 olive-green cartoon gators, from a hatchling in its egg to lily pad scenes. The sea animals set has 40 creatures with white sticker edges. Dolphin makes every design a small teal and navy wave scene, the jellyfish and starfish are faceless and soft, and seashell looks like plates from an old natural history book. Turtle draws sea turtles and tortoises like an old cartoon, some with floral or patterned shells.
Wild and far away. Safari pairs ten baby savanna animals with matching silhouettes. Elephant is mostly outline baby elephants plus mandala elephants. Flamingo is retro coral birds with palms and swim rings, and desert animals mixes a roadrunner and coyote with a camel and fennec fox.
Dinosaurs and just for fun. The dinosaur pack has color characters, side-view profiles, fossils, eggs and tracks. Rubber duck draws the bath toy like an old comic strip, in costumes; the duckling set has only three plain rubber ducks.
Halloween, winter and holidays. Bat draws one plum-furred cartoon bat 30 ways, flying, hanging and curled on crescent moons, and five designs add a pumpkin, a jack-o'-lantern or skulls. Penguin puts penguins in striped hats and scarves, with six Christmas designs, and the goose and mouse sets each include a Santa-hat character.
The older clipart sets
Chinese Zodiac Clipart covers all twelve animals in one of three looks you pick at checkout, and Cute Animal Line Art has 50 round-headed baby animals with white insides. Pastel Floral Clipart is 46 soft pink, lilac and green designs. All three give each design as a 2400-pixel PNG and an SVG.
The fairy sets are PNG only: Mushroom Fairy is 21 sleepy fairies in mushroom caps, Watercolor Tooth Fairy is one character in 25 poses, and Whimsical Fairy sorts 30 flower fairies into six color families. Space Pixel Art Characters is 30 retro sprites on one 64 by 64 grid. Whimsical Winter Forest Scenes is 25 square night-time paintings that run to all four edges, finished art rather than pieces to arrange.
Sizes for printing and cutting
At 300 pixels per inch, a 3600-pixel PNG prints about 12 inches on its long side. The usual starting widths in the guides are 10 to 11 inches for an adult shirt, 7 to 8 inches for a child's shirt and 3 to 4 inches for a mug. A few sets break the pattern:
- Sea animals PNGs are 1254 pixels, about 4.2 inches, and the guide starts with a 2 to 3 inch sticker.
- Safari PNGs are 4500 pixels, about 15 inches.
- Ladybug and turtle vectors open at 10 inches, their PNGs at 12.
- In the older sets, the mushroom fairies reach about 10 inches, the zodiac, line art and floral PNGs about 8, the whimsical fairies about 6.7 and the tooth fairy about 6, and the SVGs scale to any size.
For cutting, the guides give starting widths from about 3 inches for the simplified one-color ants, jellyfish and starfish to 10 inches or more for the butterfly, cow, elephant and seashell cut files. They call these starting points, not tested settings, so cut a test piece on scrap first, and remember that the edge of a transparent PNG isn't a cut line.
