These turtle SVG designs are drawn in a retro cartoon style: heavy black outlines, round eyes with little arched eyebrows, beaky smiles that open onto a terracotta tongue, and shells split into neat plates. The whole set sticks to five colors, mustard for the skin, deep green for the shell, cream, terracotta and a near-black, and every color design draws from that same palette.
Who’s in the club
Design-Index.csv numbers the thirty and groups them like this.
- Sea turtles (01–06): one waving a front flipper, one diving head-first, one cruising flat out, one seen from below with its cream belly shell showing, one waving with a darker shell, and one stretching up toward the surface.
- Tortoises (07–09): a domed tortoise strutting with one foot raised, one lying flat for a nap with one eye shut, and a third mid-stride with a wide smile.
- Babies (10–12): a hatchling climbing out of a cracked eggshell, a little one sitting up and giggling with a hand at its chin, and a baby sea turtle paddling.
- Floral shells (13–15): sea turtles whose shells carry white daisies, a single big sunflower, or a cluster of terracotta roses.
- Patterned shells (16–18): shells decorated with a symmetrical design, a flower-like wheel of petals, a scalloped ring around a round center motif, and a four-leaf pattern. The index calls these mandala designs, but they’re decorated turtles, not coloring pages.
- Beach scenes (19–21): a turtle riding a curling wave with terracotta spray, one crawling over sand past two seashells, and one swimming over waves in front of a half sun with terracotta rays.
- Outline turtles (22–25): cream turtles with black outlines and no other color, a sea turtle reaching up with both flippers (its shell is solid black), a tortoise peeking out from under a big shell, a baby with its chin in its hands, and a sea turtle facing you with flippers spread wide.
- Sayings (26–30): two lines of chunky capitals with a turtle tucked between them, “SLOW STEPS BIG DAYS”, “KEEP A LITTLE CALM”, “TAKE THE SCENIC TIDE”, “A SHELL FULL OF HAPPY” and “LET LITTLE JOYS LEAD”. The turtles in the middle are smaller copies of 07, 08, 03, 11 and 10, and the letters are already outlines.
Color or one color
In the color SVGs each of the five colors sits in its own group, so changing the shell green or the skin mustard across a design is one edit. The mono files keep only the near-black. The shell plates turn solid black, the mustard skin and cream areas become see-through, and the open mouths fill in black, so a mono turtle reads like a bold black-and-white cartoon with a dark shell. The daisy and rose shells keep their flowers as open shapes on the black. The scalloped ring on design 17 is the one place a lot of detail disappears: in mono the outer shell merges into a solid black disc around the center motif.
If you’re after plain black outlines or silhouettes printed on pages, the Turtle Outlines set on this site is the one for that. This set is color clipart first, with no printable PDF sheets.
Sizes and a test run
The SVG, EPS and DXF files sit on a 10 x 10 inch canvas, with each turtle about 9 inches across its longer side. The PNGs are 3600 x 3600 pixels at 300 dpi, which the guide notes is the same as a 12 x 12 inch canvas, so lock proportions and scale to the size you need rather than expecting the two to match on import.
The guide suggests starting detailed designs at around 6 inches wide and the simpler outlines at around 3 inches, and checking the eyes, mouths, letters and flower centers at your final size. Test your material and settings on a small piece before a finished project.
