This ant clipart set has 30 designs built around one idea, a crew of cheerful brown ants getting a picnic together. The characters are chubby cartoon ants with big shiny eyes and long curled antennae, and each one is busy with a single job. Every design comes as a full-color illustration and as a one-color shape, so the same ant can go on a printed card or into cutting software.
What the ants are up to
The 12 characters each hold one thing. One hugs a strawberry, one lifts a crumb of bread over its head, one walks under a leaf umbrella and one nibbles a chocolate chip cookie. The rest carry a daisy, a carrot pulled out of the dirt, a red apple, a bread roll, a glass of lemonade with a lemon slice, an acorn and a seedling in a clay pot, and the last one waves in a straw sun hat with a green gingham cloth.
The four scenes are about teamwork and home. Three ants march in a row with a crumb, a leaf and a seed. A cutaway anthill shows two ants storing seeds in round chambers while a third sits on top in the grass. Two more stand at an anthill door, and two cross a leaf laid like a bridge between two stones. The guide says outright that these are stylized pictures, not science diagrams, so don’t lean on the anthill cutaway for a lesson on how real colonies work.
The picnic group has an ant leaning on a watermelon slice, an ant tucked into a wicker basket with an apple and bread on red gingham, two ants sharing tea and strawberries at a little cloth-covered table, and an ant carrying a sandwich across a checked blanket.
Four sayings reuse the strawberry, leaf umbrella, daisy and seedling ants above serif capital letters: “ANT-TASTIC”, “PICNIC CREW”, “SMALL BUT MIGHTY” and “TINY TEAM BIG DREAMS”. The letters are already outlines, so there’s no font to install.
Color version or one-color version
The two versions of a design don’t behave the same, and the difference matters for anything detailed.
- Color: the ants are built from 31 to 33 flat color groups each, warm browns and reds with highlights, so you can hide or recolor parts in a vector program.
- One-color: everything merges into one solid dark brown shape. The strawberry, the basket or the tea table becomes part of the outline. The cutaway anthill turns into a plain mound, and the seeds and chambers disappear. In the sayings, the letters stay separate from the ant.
The six realistic silhouettes are one color in both versions, with the one-color copies drawn a little thicker. One walks, one turns, one climbs, one is seen from the side, one is labeled a seed carrier, and the last shows two small ants in a line.
Sizes and what to check
The PNGs are 3600 pixels square with a transparent background and 300 dpi in the file data. They were rendered from the vector shapes, not enlarged from a small picture. The SVG and DXF files open on a 12 x 12 inch canvas, but the ant doesn’t fill it, so check the real width after you import.
For cutting, the guide suggests starting single one-color ants at 3 inches wide, and color layers, multi-ant scenes and sayings at 5 to 6 inches. It calls these starting points, not guaranteed minimums. Legs, antennae and the small gaps inside letters are the parts to look at first, and a test cut on your own material comes before a full batch. A transparent PNG edge is not a cut line.
