This starfish clipart set paints the sea star almost like a specimen: 13 watercolor stars with beaded ridges, bumpy texture and soft color, seen from above and with no faces. Around them sit six line studies, four cutwork stars and seven other beach finds, 30 designs in all.
Sea stars in three styles
The first eight are painted to look close to real. Blue Speckled has rows of cream bumps running to a small flower shape in the middle, Peach Cushion is plump and studded with pearly beads, and Lavender Long-arm stretches out five thin, curving arms. Sand-tipped is ivory with blue, spiny tips, and Curled Peach is a strong orange with one arm rolled into a spiral.
Five more, numbers 15 to 19, are softer and rounder, with puffy arms whose tips bend, fold under or curl. One blue star has two arms curving upward, and a lilac one folds an arm over to show its pale underside. Design-Index.csv files these as soft faceless stars. None of them has a face.
The six line studies are warm gray outlines of different star shapes, a cushion star, a slender long-arm star and an underside view among them. The four cutwork stars are solid shapes with openings cut through them: petal shapes, wavy channels, a lace pattern with scalloped edges, and rows of dots.
The beach companions
Designs 24 to 30 add a blue and peach scallop shell, a sand dollar with its five-petal pattern and slots, a seahorse with a coiled tail, a branch of pink coral, a spiral conch, an open clam holding a pearl, and a blue wave curling over with white foam. These are painted in the same watercolor style, so they mix in easily around the stars.
Which file for which job
| You want | Use | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| A printed card, tag or tote with the watercolor look | Watercolor PNG | 3600 pixels long with 300 dpi in the file, but the guide says these were resampled from the original illustrations, so start at 3 to 4 inches and check a test print |
| A large print, such as a 10 to 11 inch shirt design | Color SVG or EPS | Five or fewer flat colors over a dark backing. The guide says the painted and flat versions intentionally differ, so the vector won’t show the bumpy texture |
| One-color vinyl or iron-on | Single-color SVG, or DXF if your software needs it | Everything is one warm gray shape. The guide simplified these for a 3-inch start with about 0.02 inch (0.5 mm) bridges, and still asks for a physical test cut |
In the single-color files, the 13 painted stars become plain star silhouettes and most beach pieces become solid outlines. The sand dollar keeps its five slots, and the cutwork stars keep all their openings.
The line studies behave differently. Their single-color versions turn the outlines into dotted, broken lines made of many small separate pieces, from 64 to 197 per design, so group them before resizing. The DXF files are drawn in inches but carry no unit setting, so choose inches if asked. The guide’s starting widths are 3 to 4 inches for a cup, 7 to 8 inches for a child’s shirt and 10 to 11 inches for an adult shirt, with 6 inches or more suggested for layered color. At 11 inches wide, the seahorse is about 22 inches tall, so check the height before you commit to a width.
The glass, gift tag, tote and card in the photos are mockups, and the wrapping paper pattern isn’t part of the download.
