This cookie exchange set opens with the invitation and then keeps going through the swap itself: a card that explains the rules, labels and ingredient notes for each batch, a ballot, and a ledger for checking bundles in and out. Everything sits in one winter bakery. A gingerbread shop with a striped red-and-blue awning stands in the snow between fir trees, and a mixing bowl, rolling pin and tin of iced star and heart cookies fill the smaller cards. A band of mist-blue squares runs along the top of every piece.

The counting is already worked out once

The rules card and the tracker are filled in for a sample party of five bakers. Each baker brings 24 cookies packed as 4 bundles of 6, then takes one bundle from each of the other four, so everyone goes home with 24. The guide gives the rule behind it: bundles per baker equal the number of bakers minus one.

If your group is a different size, do that sum after the final RSVPs, then retype the bundle lines on the rules card and the count line on the tracker. The two pieces do not talk to each other, so check both. The sign-up sheet and the tracker each have five rows, so print a second copy for a larger group.

Cards for the cookie table

  • Display label (3.5 x 2 in): cookie name in script with the baker’s name below. Make one for every kind of cookie on the table.
  • Ingredient card (4 x 6 in): four ingredient lines and two more for “contains” and shared equipment. It is a blank form, so bakers write what is really in their batch.
  • Recipe card (7 x 5 in, landscape): recipe name, baker, yield and four lines each for ingredients and method.
  • Tasting ballot (4 x 6 in): one pick each for Favorite Flavor, Best Decorated and Most Festive.
  • Take-home tag (3 x 4 in) for each guest’s box, and a thank-you card (5 x 3.5 in) signed “With love & cookie crumbs” to send afterward.

The invitation and rules card are 5 x 7. The welcome sign, sign-up sheet, host checklist and tracker are 8 x 10.

Typing it in, or not

Open START-HERE.html in a desktop browser. It runs without an internet connection. Choose one of the 12 pieces from the list and type over the sample text in the boxes on the left. Text that runs long shrinks to fit, and a note appears if it gets much smaller than the design intended. Headings such as “Cookie Exchange” and “The cookie awards” belong to the artwork and stay as they are. Accented Western European letters are supported.

Each piece keeps its own wording, so the date on the invitation does not carry over to the welcome sign. Closing the tab loses unsaved changes. “Save my edits” downloads a small file you can load next time, and “Reset this piece” brings back the sample text.

When a piece looks right, print it as a PDF that matches that piece’s size, at 100% with background graphics on, or download it as an SVG. All 12 are flat and single-sided. A home printer that won’t feed 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 stock can be skipped: hand the PDF to a print shop.

To skip the screen, print the write-in PDF. It swaps names, dates and addresses for labeled lines but keeps the rules card and tracker as printed in the sample, counts included, so it fits a party of five bakers as is.

Questions

Is a cookie recipe included?
No. The recipe card is a blank template for each baker to fill in. The sample only shows "Chocolate chip cookies" as a recipe name.
Will the editor work out how many cookies everyone should bring?
No. It does no math. Once you know how many bakers are coming, work out the bundle count yourself and type it on the rules card and the tracker.
