These horse backgrounds are 16 seamless patterns that shuffle one small cast of motifs. There are four horses: a chestnut foal whose dark mane is tied with a green bow, a brown horse head with a white star on its forehead and a red bow at its neck, a cream foal with a golden mane and a blue neckerchief, and a gray-blue dappled pony with a pale mane. Around them sit carrots, golden horseshoes tied with little green bows, blue-and-pink prize rosettes, small stables with green roofs, and daisies. The grounds come in four plain colors, cream, pale blue, sage and blush, some with a faint dotted texture.

The four designs without horses (03, 09, 10 and 11) are quieter, so they sit well next to a busier horse print in the same color.
Repeating the tiles
Each design’s PNG is the same image as its JPG. For tiling, START-HERE.txt recommends the PNG at 100% scale, with no rotation and no gaps, because JPG compression can shift the edge pixels slightly. The PNGs have their ground color filled in, so they are background papers rather than transparent clipart, and a single horse can’t be lifted onto another color. Each square works out to 12 x 12 inches at the 300 dpi saved in the files. The patterns were laid out at 3600 pixels from motifs that were generated separately and scaled to fit, not produced as one large image.
Screen versions
Designs 01, 02, 08 and 13 also come at 1920 x 1080 and 3840 x 2160. They are center crops of the squares, so they show a band through the middle of the same pattern, with motifs running off the edges just as they do in the squares. The other 12 designs have no screen version, and there are no phone-shaped files.
Printing
Each PDF page holds one centered square with white margins and the design name in small type above it. At Actual Size the square is 7.5 inches wide on US Letter and about 7.27 inches on A4. For a full 12-inch square, print the JPG or PNG on paper that size instead. Colors shift between printers and screens, so START-HERE.txt suggests printing one page first.
