Woodland Animal Writable Bookmarks puts the picture at the bottom and leaves most of the bookmark free for writing. Each of the twelve animals is reading a book of its own in a little patch of forest floor, and a thin border of vines and acorns runs around the cream card.
Who’s reading
The fox is curled up beside a stack of old books. The rabbit reads among small blue flowers, the hedgehog reads on a stack of books among autumn leaves, and the squirrel perches on a tree stump with acorns around it. The badger reads under ferns, the deer lies beside an open book among bluebells, and the owl sits on an oak branch over a book. The bear has a teacup at its side, the mouse reads inside a hollow acorn among wild strawberries, the raccoon sits on a plaid blanket, the beaver leans on a log by the water, and the red panda sits against a pile of books.
Blank or lined
Both versions use the same art. The blank one leaves the light center open, which suits a short message or a small sketch. The lined one adds eight evenly spaced pale lines, about four tenths of an inch apart, for a reading list, a quote or a gift note. The art stays below the writing area on both.
Writing on them
Print on uncoated cardstock, the kind your pens can write on, and let the printer ink dry before you write. Use a pencil or a pen that suits the card; how well a pen writes depends on the paper, the printer ink and the pen itself, so test one first. Leave a bookmark unlaminated if you still want to write on it, because ordinary pens and pencils won’t write over lamination.
Print the sheets at 100% so each bookmark comes out at 2 x 6 inches, then cut on the trim marks.
