Fifteen small night scenes from a fantasy garden fill these bookmarks to color: a glass conservatory, a treehouse with a spiral stair, a telescope under a dome, a rowboat tied up beneath bellflowers. The line work is dense, with leaves and petals filling nearly every gap, and a crescent or full moon hangs in the sky of about half of them.
The 15 scenes
The designs come three to a sheet, in this order:
- Moonlit Conservatory: a domed glasshouse with a potted tree inside, a hummingbird and a lily in front
- Secret Flower Gate: an open iron gate with a luna moth on it, climbing roses and a stone urn at the end of the path
- Mooncrystal Pond: a footbridge over a pond, a dragonfly overhead, mushrooms in the corner
- Star Fern Stairway: stone steps climbing through curled ferns, with paper lanterns hanging from the top
- Bellflower Treehouse: a round house with a pointed shingle roof and a spiral stair wrapped around the trunk
- Moon Mirror Fountain: an oval mirror showing a crescent moon over water, above a tiered fountain
- Starbloom Colonnade: an arched walkway hung with lanterns, a large star lily in the foreground
- Vine Observatory: a gazebo with a brass telescope at the top of a curved staircase
- Enchanted Flower Boat: a moored rowboat on a canal, a stone bridge behind, lily pads in front
- Stardew Flower Clock: a garden clock on a stone pedestal, wrapped in lilies
- Secret Key Gate: a keyhole-shaped stone arch with a fountain beyond it and an ornate key hanging from a vine
- Chiming Flower Walk: a pergola dripping with long bell-shaped blooms over a flagstone path and a bench
- Moonmoth Reading Pavilion: an armchair and a small table with an open book under a domed pavilion
- Crystal Blossom Grotto: a waterfall and stone steps inside a cave, with faceted crystal flowers
- Starfall Garden: a stepped waterfall under a flowering arch, with stars hanging from the flowers like ornaments
Designs 1 to 6 are framed by loose leaves and blossoms. From design 7 on, each bookmark adds an ornamental band of scrolls and star-shaped flowers across the top and bottom, so the last nine look more formal than the first six.
Coloring the line art
These reward patience more than speed. At 2 x 6 inches, the bead-tipped stamens, roof shingles and fern curls are small, which is why the guide page suggests colored pencils or fine-tip pens and testing them on a spare print before starting on cardstock.
The color reference keeps the whole set in one evening range: navy and deep plum skies, sage and teal leaves, lavender and cream flowers, a few pink roses, and soft yellow light in the windows and lanterns. It’s a suggestion, not a numbered color key. The colored versions also carry some painted texture that isn’t in the outlines, so they won’t match line for line.
Printing and cutting
Pick the PDF that matches your paper; the Letter and A4 files hold the same designs in the same order. Print single-sided at 100% with Fit and Shrink turned off, and measure the 1-inch line on page 2 before you print all five sheets. Each bookmark has a thin outer rectangle with a decorative frame just inside it. Cut on the outer line and the frame stays on as a border. If you want to laminate, do it after the coloring and cutting are done.
Questions
- Can I print the colored version as finished bookmarks?
- Yes. The guide page says to keep the line art for coloring and print the color file if you prefer it. Both use the same 2 x 6 inch layout and cut line.
- Is the detail too fine for children?
- The files describe the detail as intended for adults. The spaces are small at 2 x 6 inches, so colored pencils or fine-tip pens work better than crayons or markers.
