Every chart in this set is 48 squares wide and 48 tall. That’s a lot of room for a dog, so breeds keep the details that make them recognizable: the corgi’s big ears, the basset hound’s long ones, the dalmatian’s spots and the samoyed’s blue scarf. On 5 mm midi beads a finished piece is about 24 cm (9.4 in) across, sized for a wall or door hanger. On 2.6 mm mini beads it’s about 12.5 cm (4.9 in).
The 28 breeds
Golden retriever, chocolate Lab, corgi, dachshund, poodle, pug, French bulldog, husky, Shiba Inu, dalmatian, beagle, border collie, German shepherd, schnauzer, basset hound, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, samoyed, shih tzu, Yorkshire terrier, Bernese mountain dog, Rottweiler, Boston terrier, Maltese, bichon frise, Saint Bernard, chow chow and papillon.
The 8 dog things
Dog bone, paw print, dog house, food bowl, collar and tag, tennis ball, dog biscuit and a puppy in a teacup. The collar and tag (573 beads) and the tennis ball (658) are the smallest patterns in the set.
How the charts work
Each square is lettered with its color code, the edges are numbered, and a heavier line falls every four squares. At 48 squares these charts are bigger than a single square pegboard, so they’re counted charts: keep the page next to your boards and count across and down. Letters on the squares mean a black-and-white printout is fine.
A pattern takes between 573 and 1,155 beads and three to six colors, and the pack puts each one at roughly one to two hours. The index rates every design Easy, Easy+ or Steady, so you can pick an easy one first and save the chow chow, the biggest at 1,155 beads, for later.
All 36 designs are one connected piece, with every bead touching another along a flat side and no enclosed gaps.
One color card for all 36
The set uses 20 colors, and the color card adds up how many of each you need for every pattern, 32,106 beads in total, so you can order from one page. Colors are named after Artkal midi beads, with the nearest Perler and Hama shade listed beside each one. Those matches were picked by color distance and aren’t official conversions, so hold your beads up to the swatches. The charts work with any 5 mm fuse beads, such as Perler. We are not affiliated with Artkal, Perler or Hama, and the brand names only describe bead compatibility.
