These Thanksgiving fuse bead patterns are sorted by how long you want to spend. The eight small ones are single harvest things with a face: a baby turkey, a pumpkin, an acorn, an apple, an ear of corn, a maple leaf, a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream and a mug of cider with a cinnamon stick. The eight medium ones are sitting woodland animals hugging something from the harvest. Most of the eight large ones stand up in aprons, dresses or chef’s hats, carrying pies and baskets.
Three sizes, three kinds of project
| Size | Grid | Beads | Colors | Long side with 2.6 mm beads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small (01–08) | up to 48 cells on the long side | 1,085 to 1,678 | 12 to 19 | up to 4.9 in |
| Medium (09–16) | 72 cells tall, 53 to 66 wide | 2,839 to 3,451 | 18 to 21 | 7.4 in |
| Large (17–24) | 96 cells tall, 53 to 90 wide | 3,683 to 5,653 | 17 to 21 | 9.8 in |
The medium animals are a bunny with a pumpkin, a squirrel with a basket of acorns, a fox with an apple, a hedgehog with a pear, a kitten wearing a pumpkin as a cap, a raccoon with a slice of pie, an owlet holding a maple leaf and a field mouse with an ear of corn. In the large group you’ll find a puppy chef with a lattice apple pie, a bear and a fox with harvest baskets, a raccoon baker, an owl holding a leaf wreath, a mouse in a beret with a cup of cider, a bunny baker with a pumpkin pie and, the biggest piece in the set, a turkey in a green vest and red bow tie, 90 beads wide and 5,653 beads in all.
The sizes in the table come from the books, which estimate finished size at about 2.6 mm per bead. With standard 5 mm fuse beads such as Perler, the same charts come out roughly twice as big: about 9.4, 14.2 and 18.9 inches on the long side. Doodlora Studio has no affiliation with Perler or any other fuse bead brand.
Reading the books
Each design opens with a reference page showing the whole picture, its color key with exact counts and a map of its tiles. The tiles follow, 24 columns by 28 rows each, with coordinates printed on all four sides and no repeated cells between neighbors, so you start at tile A1 in the top left and work across. The squares on paper are enlarged for reading; they are not printed at bead size, so you place beads by counting rather than laying them on the sheet.
A white square with a code is a white bead; a white square with no code stays empty. The counts are exact, with nothing added for beads that roll away, so buy a few extra of each color. The palette is shared across all 24 designs, and making every one of them takes 70,362 beads, more than 10,000 each of the dark cocoa outline and the ivory.
The PDFs and charts were checked digitally, but nobody has assembled, fused or test-printed these designs yet, so compare your real beads against the color key before you start. Adults should handle the iron and supervise children, and the small beads aren’t safe for children under 3.
Questions
- Is there an A4 version?
- No. The books are US Letter only. On A4, print with the page scaled to fit the printable area; the squares get a little smaller to read, but the bead counts and coordinates stay the same.
- Do the color codes mean the same thing in every design?
- Yes. The whole set uses one 21-color reference palette, P01 to P21, so P08 is the same ivory in the turkey as in the cider cup. Each design's key lists only the codes it uses.
