Four Seasons Cottage is one download holding a full year of square landscape pictures: 20 for spring, 20 for summer, 18 for autumn and 20 for winter. The file names start with the season, so it’s easy to find this month’s pictures.
A year in the same countryside
The seasons change and the setting stays put. Spring brings pale green hills, pink blossom trees, tulips and a river with small boats. Summer adds moss-covered thatch, sunflower and wheat fields, and a stone village on a sea cliff at sunset. Autumn turns everything ochre and copper, with stone bridges and a white church. Winter is blue-gray snow, lit windows, windmills and a castle on a hill. These are the same pictures sold one season at a time as the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Cottage sets.
File size, and what it means for your frames
This set keeps the whole year smaller: every file is 2048 x 2048 pixels, half the width of the single-season sets. At 300 pixels per inch that prints to about 6.8 inches (17.3 cm) square. So 5 x 5 or 6 x 6 inch frames on a shelf, a desk or a picture ledge are the natural fit. At 8 x 8 inches the file gives about 256 pixels per inch, a little under the usual 300. For 10 x 10 or 12 x 12 inch prints, the single-season sets have four times the pixels.
Rotating one frame
A simple way to use all 78: hang one small square frame, or a row of three, and change the pictures when the season does. Since the palette shifts but the drawing style doesn’t, a spring picture and a winter picture still look like part of the same series side by side.
