Raccoon Silhouettes with Bridged Hollow Outlines: 20 Woodland Poses and Kits

Instant downloadSVG, PNG, DXF, PDF

Twenty all-black raccoons, from one hugging a tree trunk and one nibbling an acorn to a sleeper curled into its own tail and a mother walking beside her kit. Each comes as a silhouette that keeps the white mask and tail rings, and as a hollow outline with small openings that hold the paper together.

These raccoon silhouettes are solid black shapes with the white left where a real raccoon is pale: the band across the eyes, the muzzle, the ear rims and the stripes between the dark rings on the tail. There are 20 designs, and every one also comes as a bridged hollow outline you can cut as a raccoon stencil or keep as a raccoon outline for drawing over.

Up a tree, on a branch, behind a plank

Most of the set shows a whole animal doing something. One raccoon stands up on its hind legs keeping watch (01) and another stretches one front paw straight up into the air (08). One sits holding an acorn to its mouth (02), another holds a sprig of berries in both hands (13). There’s a climber gripping a broken tree trunk (03), a walker balanced on a bare branch with its tail curled high (14), and one peeking over the edge of a plank with only its face, paws and tail showing (05).

The rest are quieter: walking and trotting side-on, nose to the ground while foraging, sitting with its back turned and looking over its shoulder, curled up asleep with the tail wrapped round, and sitting with the tail drawn across its front. Two designs are heads only, a full face from the front (15) and a side profile (16). Design 07 has no raccoon in it at all, just a single curved tail with its rings.

How the mask and rings carry over

In the silhouette, the face mask and tail rings are open white areas inside the black. In the hollow version the same shapes are traced as lines, and the line breaks at small points where a white area would otherwise be cut free. Those openings, about 2.2 mm wide at the original 8-inch size, keep the white paper attached to the outside once the black is cut away. The silhouette has no such openings, so its white mask and tail stripes come loose if you cut it as a single-piece stencil, unless you add bridges yourself.

The hollow faces look softer than the solid ones, because the dark eye patches become outlines rather than filled shapes. For the acorn and berry designs, the food the raccoon is holding shows best in the silhouette.

Scaling a raccoon and printing the books

Each SVG and DXF puts the raccoon on an 8-inch square, and the artwork measures roughly 6.4 inches along its longest side. Scale it in your software and both the outline weight (about 1.5 mm at the original size) and the bridge openings scale with it, so check the thinnest parts at the size you plan to use. No physical print or cutting test has been done on these files, so try your material on a scrap first.

For paper, print the PDF at 100% or Actual Size. The first 20 pages put each design’s silhouette and hollow outline next to each other, and the four-up and six-up pages fit several raccoons on one sheet for smaller prints. The last six-up page in each style holds only two raccoons, and the empty spaces on it are deliberate.

Questions

How many young raccoons are in the mother-and-kit design?
One. Design 06 is an adult walking with a single kit close at her side, and it counts as one design. Two more young raccoons appear on their own, sitting (17) and walking with the tail up (18).
Can I get a raccoon facing the other way?
The set has no mirrored copies, so each pose faces one direction only. Use the flip or mirror command in your editing or cutting software before you print or cut.
