Morning Routine Planner
A guide and workbook that starts from the morning you already have, not from somebody's 5 a.m. schedule. Larks and Owls get different advice, and there are pages for the mornings that go wrong.

This printable morning routine planner is a 28-page guide and workbook. Each of its four parts opens with a page of explanation, and most pages after that are exercises with lines to fill in. By page 17 you have a written routine; the last eleven pages are about living with it.
Lark or Owl changes the advice
Page 6 has two cards. The Lark wakes easily and is sharpest in the first hours. The Owl finds the first hour or two foggy and does their best thinking in the evening, and there is a third box for somewhere in between. The book then treats the two differently all the way through. On the time-block page, Larks are told to put Activate and Plan early while their attention is free, and Owls to open with Wake and Connect and push Activate later. On the “I don’t have time” fix, Owls are told to keep the morning slow and move anything demanding to later in the day.
The five elements and five starting routines
A morning is split into Wake, Connect, Activate, Plan and Nourish, and page 10 says almost nobody needs all five. Page 12 turns them into routines you can copy whole:
| Length | Name in the book | What’s in it |
|---|---|---|
| 10 min | The Minimum Viable Morning | curtains open and water, a minute of gratitude, the one thing that matters today |
| 20 min | The Gentle Morning | three minutes of stillness, tea and a few pages of reading |
| 30 min | The Full Routine | five minutes of journaling, ten minutes of moving, then Plan and Nourish |
| 45 min | The Deep Morning | ten minutes of Connect, fifteen of Activate, fifteen of reading or study |
| Yours | Build Your Own | pick your elements and minutes |
For the week it falls apart
Page 20 takes five things people say (“I can’t get up,” “My family interrupts me,” “Nothing feels different”) and gives three fixes for each. Page 22 is a restart plan in four steps, and if you miss three days or more it sends you back to page 13 to pick a smaller first step.
Working through it
The book suggests one part per sitting, about fifteen to twenty minutes, with a break between parts so you can try things in real mornings. Print at 100% rather than “Fit to page,” since scaling shifts the writing lines. The quarterly review on page 25 is meant to be reprinted; four copies cover a year.
Questions
- Can I fill it in on a tablet?
- Yes. The notes that come with the files say the pages can be written on in any tablet or desktop PDF app, as well as printed.
- Will the cream background use a lot of ink?
- It is meant to print as a pale tint. If you would rather skip it, most printer settings let you turn off background colors and images.
