Howling Wolf Silhouettes: 20 Lone Wolves, Packs and Moonlit Ridges
Every wolf in this set has its head thrown back mid-howl, alone on a rock, in a pack of up to four, or inside a moon ring with pine trees. Each design comes as a plain black wolf silhouette and as a separately drawn line version with fur detail.

All 20 howling wolf silhouettes here catch the same moment: muzzle pointed at the sky, mouth open, throat stretched. They come in two styles that look very different from each other. The silhouette is one flat black shape with no lines inside it. The hollow version is a full wolf outline drawing, redrawn with fur strokes, eyes, paws and the edges of rocks and trees.
Ten wolves on their own
The single wolves stand on a rock (01 and 06), sit (02 and 05), stand mid-stride with no ground drawn under the paws (03), face you three-quarters on (04), or lie down with only the head raised (09). Design 10 is a seated wolf facing forward with a thick ruff around its neck. Two are heads only: a side view with the neck stretched up (07) and a more frontal view with the fur flaring around the face (08).
The two rock designs differ in stance: in 01 the wolf stands level on a flat stone, and in 06 its front paws rest higher up the rock so the body tilts toward the sky.
Packs and moonlit scenes
The pack designs put two, three, four and a family of wolves together, all howling at once (FAQ below has the counts). The six scenes are where the wolf howling at the moon comes in. Four use a moon, either as a ring, a crescent or a disc, and the other two put a lone wolf on top of rocky peaks (17) and on a stacked stone butte (19).
In the silhouettes, everything in a scene is joined into one main black shape: wolf, ground, trees and moon ring all connect.
What the line version is and isn’t
The hollow line drawing is not a stencil. Its fur strokes and inner lines are separate marks, and it has no bridges to hold pieces together, so cutting it out leaves many loose parts. Treat it as wolf outline art for printing and tracing. If you want a stencil from either style, plan to add your own bridges for your material. The files have had no physical print or cut test, and resizing changes the line weight, so check a sample at your final size.
The PDFs print at 100% or Actual Size and fit the artwork to each page or grid cell. At the original 8-inch SVG and DXF size, each design measures about 6.4 inches on its longest side.
Questions
- Which designs include a moon?
- Four of them. Design 15 sets the wolf on a rock inside a full ring, 16 puts a seated wolf and pines inside a ring, 18 uses a crescent, and 20 has a full moon disc behind the wolf with pines and a mountain. No other design has a moon. The moon behind the wolf in the first preview image is only a background.
- How many wolves are in the pack designs?
- Two in design 11, three on a ridge in 12, two adults with a pup between them in 13, and four in a row in 14.
