A home management binder is where the scattered notes of a household end up in one place: who to call when a pipe leaks, which bills are paid this month, what’s for dinner on Thursday. This one has six sections, and every section opens with a divider page so the binder stays easy to flip through.
What’s in each section
- Household. Family members and birthdays, home details like the Wi-Fi password, alarm code and trash day, service providers, important contacts, a passwords page, a birthdays and key dates page, and a maintenance log with seasonal jobs like testing smoke alarms and cleaning the dryer vent.
- Cleaning. A weekly schedule, a monthly plan that rotates one area each week, a room-by-room checklist and a seasonal deep-clean list.
- Chores. A family chore chart, a kids’ chore and allowance tracker, and a Sunday reset checklist.
- Budget. A monthly budget, a 12-month bill payment tracker, an expense log, and savings and debt payoff pages with rows of progress circles to color in as you go.
- Meals. A weekly meal planner with a grocery column, a monthly dinner calendar, a grocery list sorted by store section, a pantry and freezer inventory, and a recipe card.
- Emergency. Emergency contacts, family medical info, a list of where important documents are kept, and a babysitter sheet with bedtimes, allergies and house rules.
Setting it up
Print single-sided, three-hole punch the pages and put them in a 1-inch or 1.5-inch binder with the dividers in front of each section. None of the pages are dated, so the weekly cleaning schedule, meal planner and chore chart can be reprinted every week, and the rest you fill in once and update when something changes.
The passwords page is handy, but a binder on the kitchen shelf isn’t a safe. The page itself suggests writing only hints, which is a good habit.
Five colors
The pages are the same in every color. Pick green, soft blue or blush pink. Green and soft blue each come in two versions, plain or with small leaf accents on the cover and page headings. Blush pink has the leaf accents.
