A dove outline here is a hollow shape, a thin double line tracing the edge of the bird with nothing inside. Each of the 20 designs comes that way and again as a solid black silhouette of the same shape. The doves themselves are smooth and simple: scalloped wing feathers, a fanned tail and no feather texture inside.

Six in flight, four with olive

The first six designs are single doves in flight, each in a different pose. Design 01 climbs with both wings swept up, 02 faces you with its wings spread wide and its tail fanned, and 05 comes in to land with its feet hanging down. Design 06 flies low and level, its tail streaming out behind.

Designs 07 to 10 each carry an olive sprig in the beak. In 08 the dove faces forward with its wings open and the sprig held up in front, while in 09 the leaves lead the way and in 10 they trail below the beak.

Pairs, perches and rays

Three designs pair two doves. In 11 they fly toward each other until their beaks touch, 12 sets one a little lower than the other, and in 13 two doves sit side by side on a leafy branch and lean together so their beaks leave a small heart-shaped space between them. Designs 14, 15 and 16 are single doves resting on branches with broad leaves.

Designs 17 and 18 show a dove from the front, head down, wings spread and tail fanned upward, with straight rays fanning out below. Design 17 has seven long rays and 18 has five shorter ones under a wider wingspan. They were drawn with peace, wedding, church and remembrance projects in mind, yet the drawings themselves carry no words or symbols beyond the dove, the olive, the heart and the rays.

Two designs left blank

Design 19 has a dove holding an olive sprig over a curling ribbon banner, and 20 sets a dove on top of an olive wreath around an oval. Both the banner and the oval are empty. They’re meant as blank memorial nameplates, though a ribbon for a couple’s names or a family date works just as well.

Both versions on one page

The PDFs are built to compare. After the cover, each of the next 20 pages shows one design twice, the solid silhouette above and the outline below. On US Letter each drawing there is up to about 3.7 inches tall or 5.7 inches wide. Then come four- and six-per-page sheets that group different doves together, five sheets for each version at four per page and four sheets at six per page. The last page is the print and craft guide, and it asks for Actual Size printing so nothing gets scaled.

Check the size before you cut

The files don’t all open at the same size. Every DXF is exactly 101.6 mm (4 inches) wide, so the taller doves come in at up to about 124 mm high. The PNGs measure 2,400 pixels on their longest side, 8 inches at 300 dpi, and the SVGs carry no inch or millimeter size at all. Resize in your cutting software before you cut. The outline is two closed edges rather than a single line, so it won’t work as a single-line engraving path. The guide flags the small olive leaves and the outline details for a test at your size and material, and says nothing has been test-cut.

Questions

Are the oval and the ribbon left blank?
Yes. Design 19 puts a dove above an empty ribbon banner, and design 20 seats a dove on an olive wreath around an empty oval. Neither has any lettering in it, so you add a name, a date or a short line yourself in your own software or by hand after printing.
Do the four- and six-per-page sheets repeat one dove?
No, they mix designs. The four-per-page sheets run through all 20 doves in order on five pages. The six-per-page sheets take four pages, and the last one holds only designs 19 and 20.
