This cow silhouette set covers a working cattle farm more than a cute barnyard. There are dairy cows and calves, a shaggy Highland, a longhorn, three cattle posed for the show ring, a barn, a cowbell and a western skull. Every design comes as a plain silhouette and as an outline, and a third illustrated version draws in the spots, faces and coats.
The cattle
Design 01 is a Holstein standing side-on and 02 is a cow grazing with her head down. In 03 a cow lowers her nose to a calf. The longhorn (05) carries horns that sweep far out past its head, and the Highland (06) has a long, ragged coat and upturned horns. Design 07 is a stocky all-black beef cow, and 19 is a cow lying down with her head turned toward you.
Designs 08, 09 and 10 stand side-on in a squared-up show stance, legs planted and back level: a dairy cow, a beef steer and a heifer. In the illustrated files the dairy cow has Holstein patches, while the steer and the heifer are dark with white faces. Two calf-like young cows, one standing and one sitting (11 and 12), and two heads round out the animals, a front-facing cow head with its ears out (04) and a calf head (20).
Barn, bell, skull and spots
The rest of the set is ranch and farm imagery. Design 13 puts a small cow beside a barn with a gambrel roof and a cupola, 14 is a cowbell hanging from a buckled strap, and 15 is a longhorn skull with open eyes and nose. Designs 16 and 17 are loose cow spots, six in one cluster and five in the other, and 18 is a short line of cattle with calves in the middle.
What each version shows
The silhouette and the outline are the edge of the animal and nothing else. Even the Holstein loses her patches and face, so these two read as shapes rather than portraits. The outline is a narrow band tracing that same edge. Openings inside a shape are rare and deliberate: the strap loop of the cowbell, the barn windows and the eyes and nose of the skull. The illustrated version is where the detail lives: the Holstein patches, the Highland’s fringe over its eyes, the barn boards and the buckle on the bell strap. It comes as SVG and PNG only, with no DXF and no PDF pages.
In the download, the solid and outline folders keep each design’s SVG, PNG and DXF together, and the illustrated files have their own SVG and PNG folders.
Sizes and printing
On the 8 x 6 inch canvas most of the full-body cattle are about 6.8 inches wide, while the cowbell is a tall, narrow shape about 2.1 inches across. The full-page PDFs print the standing Holstein about 6.7 inches wide on US Letter, and the four-up pages repeat one design four times at about 3.2 inches. A short header on each page gives the design number, name and layout. Start-Here.txt asks you to print at 100% in portrait and to keep proportions locked when resizing the vector files.
Questions
- Which version should I use for cutting?
- The solid or the outline. Start-Here.txt describes the illustrated extras as files for printing and design and warns that their small details may not cut well. Whichever you choose, test your size and material before a full project.
- Are the animals in the herd and the cow-and-calf designs separate pieces?
- No. In designs 03 and 18 the animals overlap, so the silhouette and the outline each trace them as one connected shape. The cow beside the barn in design 13 and the loose spots in 16 and 17 are separate pieces.
