This planner is for the parts of learning Chinese that a textbook leaves to you: deciding how much to study, keeping track of new words, and making yourself listen and speak. It has no dates, so a page can be reused for any week or month. Headings are in English with the Chinese beside them (生词本 next to Vocabulary Log, 错题集 next to Mistake Log).
What the 23 pages cover
- Setup. An owner page with your current HSK level, days and minutes per week and your reason for learning; yearly and monthly goals for listening, speaking, reading and writing; a month grid to color in study days, with a habit tracker.
- Core learning. The HSK vocabulary tracker has columns for character, pinyin, tone, English, date and a five-star mastery rating, with 21 words per page in the print file. Then come three writing pages (tián zi gé, mǐ zi gé and a blank grid for dictation), a vocabulary log with measure word and part of speech columns, grammar notes, a listening log and a speaking practice page.
- Review. A spaced repetition chart for days 1, 2, 4, 7 and 15, a weekly review, reading notes, culture notes that set a festival or dish in China beside your own country, and a mistake log.
- Motivation. A movie and TV show watchlist, a monthly word cloud, twelve achievement badges to color in and a letter to your future self.
Paper or tablet
The print file is A4. On US Letter paper, the how-to-use guide says to choose fit or shrink to printable area once; the writing grids stay square and the margins just get a little wider. The tablet file is landscape. Tapping the contents page or the tabs along the bottom (setup, learn, review, motivate) jumps to that section, and you can duplicate any page in your note app to reuse it.
The 20 stickers are transparent PNGs for a note app or a design tool: writing grids, round and square seals, key-fret borders, stars, checkboxes and badges.
