Family Vacation Games & Activities is a printable book of games for a family trip, written on the cover for kids, tweens and families, ages 6 to 12. It goes where the trip goes: the car or train, the hotel, the beach, the dinner table and the last night before home. The full-page edition has 67 activity pages in seven sections.

Out and about

The find-and-hunt section has 13 pages. The indoor scavenger hunt is meant for hotels, airports and anywhere you’re stuck waiting, with finds like a room number ending in 7, a revolving door and a clock showing another country’s time. Outside there’s a 20-item hunt, a beach day hunt, color and shape hunts, a photo challenge and three vacation bingo cards so three players can go at once.

For the journey, two travel bingo cards go head to head, and there’s tic-tac-toe, four-in-a-row, This or That, Would You Rather, Most Likely To and Think Fast!, where someone counts to ten while you name three things you’d take to a desert island.

Trivia about places

The quiz section suits a family that likes to travel. Guess the Destination gives three clues per place, worth three points on the first clue down to one on the last. Guess the Landmark does the same for single buildings and monuments. There’s also summer, beach and travel trivia, a true or false page and a picture quiz. The answers are in the separate answer key, and the word section adds three word searches, a word ladder and a scramble.

Games for the whole family

The family and party pages are for the evenings: family superlatives handed out on the last night, Who Knows Me Best?, two charades decks (the second one harder), draw and guess, and truth or dare where nobody has to get wet. Who Said It? has you write down real lines from the trip, like “I have got sand in everything,” and guess who said them.

Pages to keep

The last 13 pages slow down. Kids can design a dream hotel, a postcard to actually send, a vacation mascot and their own souvenir. The memory pages include predictions to fill in on day one and reread on the last day, a favorite moment, a favorite place and a Dear Future Me letter to open next summer. The 24 conversation cards are for the dinner table, the back seat or the last night of the trip, with questions like “What smell will remind you of this trip in ten years?”

Printing on vacation

Plain paper works for everything except the card sheets, where the guide suggests 160–200 gsm card stock. Print at Actual size, or the grids shrink and the cards stop lining up. Black and white works because nothing depends on color. The quick start guide suggests one copy per person for pages played twice, like bingo and the categories sheets, and the paper saver edition halves the paper for the 36 activities it includes.
