People Tangram Puzzle Cards
Every card is a person in the middle of doing something, from a sprint start and a handstand to two players over a chessboard. Six activity groups and a starter, tricky or expert mark in the corner of each card help you pick the next puzzle.

These people tangram puzzles turn the seven classic pieces into 60 human figures caught in the middle of an action. Each figure comes as three cards. The easy card colors every piece to match the tangram set you cut out, the challenge card shows only the dark shadow of the figure, and the answer card outlines each of the seven pieces inside that shadow.
Six kinds of action
| Group | Figures | What they are doing |
|---|---|---|
| Move | 16 | running, three jumps, two warm-ups, soccer kick, vaulting, horse stance, striding, sprint start, handstand, hurdling, take-off, splits, high kick |
| Dance | 8 | eight different dancing poses |
| Play | 6 | archery, two skating poses, falling, riding, throwing |
| Together | 7 | arguing, chess, two handshakes, arm wrestling, kissing, thanking |
| Everyday | 15 | standing, woman, fisherman, farmer, kowtow, bowing, five walking poses, crawling, waving, hat tip, bending |
| Rest | 8 | kneeling, reading, resting, thinking, reclining, three sitting poses |
Five of the Together cards (arguing, chess, the first handshake, arm wrestling and kissing) split one set of seven pieces between two people facing each other.
How hard each one is
A small mark in the bottom corner of every card gives the difficulty: an empty circle for starter, a half-filled circle for tricky and a star for expert. Across the 60 figures there are 12 starters, 35 tricky ones and 13 experts, mixed through the set rather than saved for the end. The cards are also numbered 1 to 60, with the group name printed at the top.
Building beside the card
Each figure is drawn as large as its card allows, so the size changes from card to card and never matches the cut-out set exactly. Children look at the card and build the figure next to it on the table. The how-to-play page adds three rules: use all seven pieces, keep them flat and touching without overlapping, and turn or flip any piece you like. The tangram set page has a 5 cm check line under the square. If it measures short, the printer scaled the page.
Printing
The cards in the main files have a cream background that covers most of the page. For a black-and-white printer, the last 60 pages of the ink saver file hold every challenge card as a thin outline on white. Its paper saver pages fit an easy card and a challenge card for two figures on each sheet, with corner marks for cutting, at about 3.3 × 4.4 inches per card. The read-me suggests card stock between 65 and 110 lb, and an adult should do the cutting.
