Left Right Baby Shower Game
One sheet holds both the rules and the story, so the host prints a single page and starts reading. The story follows the Wright family through the last week before their baby arrives, and every Wright counts as a RIGHT.

This left right baby shower game fits on one page: four short rules at the top and a story called The Wright Family Welcomes a Baby underneath. Everyone sits in a circle, the mom-to-be starts with a wrapped prize, and the reader works through the story. The prize goes left at every LEFT and right at every RIGHT, and because the family is named Wright, it also goes right every time their name comes up.
The story
It is the last week before the baby is due. Grandma arrives right on time, the nursery still needs painting, and the paint is in the garage while the garage key is in the wrong coat. Uncle Wright is asleep on the couch with the baby name book open on his chest, Cousin Wright turns up holding a car seat upside down, and the crib goes together with two screws in the wrong holes. Then Mrs. Wright says “It is time,” everyone leaves in a hurry, and Baby Wright arrives nine hours later.
The story runs about 410 words with 52 cues, and it ends on a line that tells whoever is holding the prize to keep it. The rules suggest reading slowly at first and speeding up near the end, since the mix-ups are the best part.
Printing
There is nothing to cut and nothing to put together. Print one copy for the reader. In the color version LEFT is blue and RIGHT and WRIGHT are pink; the black-and-white version underlines the cue words instead.
