This workbook prints nothing in your target language. Each page gives you a picture, an English word or phrase, and blank lines, and you fill in the translation and pronunciation yourself. That keeps it usable for Spanish, Japanese, Arabic or any language you choose, and writing every word out by hand is the part of the work the book is built around.

What a picture page looks like
A theme page has twelve cards. Each card shows a small drawing and the English word, such as apple or airplane, with one line for the word in your language and one for how it sounds. The common-word pages give each word more room: a line to write it three times, a meaning line and space for a sentence of your own. The grammar pages ask about your language instead of teaching one set of rules: does it read left to right, do nouns have a gender, do verbs change with the person, which endings or helper verbs mark the past. You fill in the answers as you find them.
Printing
Every page stands on its own, so you can print a single theme or section. The printing guide points out five pages worth reprinting as you fill them: the vocabulary list, the daily study log, the journal page, the conjugation grids and the challenge log. Plain 80 to 100 gsm copy paper works. Print in color if you can; grayscale works too.
