Palettes, compositions, textures and words fill these 32 printable pages, made for collage makers who want fresh ideas rather than another set of rules. Its opening page says it plainly: this is not a how-to book. Almost every spread is designed as a finished collage you can look at, copy from or pull apart.

What you can borrow

The first half is reference material. Six style directions run from grunge and vintage to pop and dream, each with a few words on its mood. Ten palettes are named and broken into four colors each, like Kitchen Garden (oat, terracotta, deep green, clay) or After Hours. A composition page shows six ways to place things on a page, from centered and diagonal to negative space. A two-page texture spread prints nine materials big enough to see the grain, and a type page shows how to mix, turn and crop lettering.

Page 13 holds 20 power words, dream, bloom, spark, found and others, set in different fonts and meant to be cut out and glued straight into your own work, with room for one of your own.

Moods, seasons and themes

The middle of the book changes gear. Four seasonal spreads each put a palette, texture and mood together, a calm page and a chaos page show how much the layout alone sets the mood, and nature, urban and dream spreads each end with three concrete ideas, like pressing real leaves for a week or layering a street map under an architectural drawing.

Pages to work on

A few pages are for you: five blank palettes to fill in, six empty frames for 30-second composition sketches, and ten prompts, in rising order of how uncomfortable they are, with a box to color in as you finish each one. The resource page lists free sources of public-domain images and a reminder to check the terms of any image before selling work that uses it.

Printing

Several pages are dark edge to edge and use a lot of ink. If you only want the reference pages, the printing note in the download suggests pages 4 to 13 and 30 to 31. Use 120 gsm paper or heavier for the dark pages, and turn on borderless printing if your printer has it.
