Rainy Mushroom Town is a set of 20 fuse bead patterns built around a toadstool village on a wet day. Eight of them are animals out in the rain, and the other twelve are the town itself: a red-capped cottage with a blue door, a mailbox, a bench and a teapot shaped like mushrooms, plus a snail, a watering can and a little boat made from a leaf.

Who’s out in the rain

Everyone is dressed for the weather. The Umbrella Bunny wears a yellow raincoat and green boots under a red spotted mushroom umbrella. The Lantern Bear has a cream hood with ears over a green raincoat and carries a glowing mushroom lantern. The Map Reader Kitten, in a blue coat and a mushroom hat, has a map open in both paws, and the Watering Can Duck wears a red hooded cape and blue boots. The Mushroom Basket Lamb carries a basket of red mushrooms, the Snail Friend Puppy has a snail riding on its shoulder, the Leaf Hat Hedgehog shelters under a big green leaf, and the Leaf Boat Frog in a cream raincoat and red boots holds a boat folded from a leaf.

Several of the things they carry show up again as patterns of their own, so the bear’s lantern, the duck’s watering can, the kitten’s map and the puppy’s snail can each be made as a separate piece.

The bunny is the tall one

The umbrella makes the Umbrella Bunny the tallest chart in the set at 57 x 88 squares and 2,833 beads. The Leaf Boat Frog is the smallest character, 53 x 63 and 2,073 beads. On 5 mm beads the bunny comes out around 11.2 by 17.3 inches, and the other characters stand roughly 12.4 to 14.8 inches tall.

The objects are a lot quicker: 497 beads for the Mushroom Lantern up to 868 for the cottage. The Mushroom Bench is the odd shape, 49 squares wide and only 27 tall. The Leaf Umbrella needs just 11 colors, the fewest of any design.

Each character is printed as four blocks over four pages, and the page header says which columns and rows that block covers. On the bunny the split falls between columns 29 and 30 and between rows 44 and 45. Numbering runs straight through, nothing overlaps, and the bead table at the foot of each block page is the count for the whole bunny, so don’t total the four.

One red for the toadstools

Each design has its own color key with its own numbering, so the codes won’t tell you which colors repeat across patterns. The hex values do. On eight of the objects, including the cottage, mailbox, bench, teapot and lantern, the red of the mushroom caps sits between #C23838 and #CA3B39, whatever code that chart gives it. One bag of red will do for all of them. The characters’ reds are brighter: the bunny’s umbrella, the kitten’s hat, the hedgehog’s toadstool and the frog’s boots run from #DE4C3C to #E24F3F, worth buying separately if you’re making both groups. None of the codes are bead brand numbers; match by eye against your own beads.

The openings in the watering can, the sailboat, the acorn basket and the teapot are charted as empty pegs, so those pieces have gaps on purpose.

Any standard 5 mm fuse bead works, Perler included, and Doodlora Studio isn’t affiliated with Perler. Print the PDF at 100%: the squares on paper are symbols to read from, not a template to bead on. The pack notes that physical fusing hasn’t been tested and asks that an adult handle the heat. Small beads are a choking hazard.

Questions

What do the dots in the CSV files mean?
A dot is an empty peg. The color codes start with a zero (01, 02 and so on), so import the CSV as text in a spreadsheet, or the leading zeros disappear.
