Left Right Bridal Shower Game
Three wedding stories written for the left right gift game, each full of sound-alike traps like Wright, write and upright. Several small gifts travel the circle at the same time, so more than one guest goes home with something.

This left right bridal shower game comes with three short stories about weddings, each written to be read aloud to a circle of guests. Instead of one gift, three to five small wrapped gifts start spread around the circle, and every LEFT or RIGHT moves all of them one seat. When the story ends, anyone holding a gift keeps it.
The sound-alike rule
What makes these stories tricky is the rule on the how-to-play page: if a word sounds like LEFT or RIGHT, it counts. So “Mr. Wright,” “write the place cards,” “upright” and “leftover” all send the gifts moving. Each story has more than 40 cues, so the gifts keep changing hands. If two gifts land on the same guest, that guest holds both and passes both.
Three stories to choose from
- Ellie Wright Gets It Right. The classic, with a heroine whose surname is itself a cue. Ellie and Tom Wright check off the florist, the dress, the rings and a lemon cake in one busy day.
- The Week Nothing Went to Plan. Nine days before Priya’s wedding, the photographer breaks his wrist, the wrong cake arrives and the best man gets sick. The day turns out fine anyway.
- The 6:04 to Anywhere. A softer story about how Maya and Dan Wright met on the wrong train, and the year of letters that ends with a question asked on a station platform.
Read one story per round with a fresh set of gifts, or hand the reading to someone else for the next round.
For the reader
The reader’s notes ask for a steady pace with no slowing down for stragglers and no stopping to fix mistakes. The page suggests starting with five gifts for more than twenty guests, and small gifts like candles, bath bombs or good chocolate. The quick reference card lists both directions and the sound-alike words; cut it out along the dashed line and keep it in hand while you read.
