Seaside Ice Cream Shop is 20 fuse bead patterns from an ice cream stand on the beach: eight animals with frozen treats in their paws, and twelve smaller pieces of ice cream and beach gear. The characters are large. Each takes between 3,396 and 5,380 beads.
The crew
The Sailor Bear sits in a white sailor hat with an anchor, licking a pink cone. The Shell Bunny wears a peach sunhat with a shell and mint overalls and holds a sundae glass topped with a cherry. Behind the counter are the Penguin Server in an apron with a blue float, the Kitten Patissier in a chef’s hat with a sundae bowl, and the Otter Manager in a blue visor hugging a mint-green tub with a shell on it. The customers are the Seal Baby with a blue neckerchief and a pink ice pop, the Duck Tourist in a bucket hat and striped shirt with a cone, and the Puppy Surfer, cone in one paw and surfboard in the other.
The twelve objects split into treats (a triple scoop cone, a strawberry ice pop, vanilla soft serve and a cherry sundae) and the beach: a striped umbrella in the sand, a bucket with a shell, a swim ring, a scallop shell, a surfboard, a sea salt soda, an ice cream cart and a sunhat with a bow.
How big each character comes out
Worked out at 5 mm per bead (the pack itself doesn’t name a bead size):
| Character | Grid | Beads | Finished size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sailor Bear | 72 x 102 | 5,380 | 14.2 x 20.1 in |
| Shell Bunny | 73 x 105 | 4,911 | 14.4 x 20.7 in |
| Penguin Server | 62 x 80 | 3,396 | 12.2 x 15.7 in |
| Seal Baby | 76 x 78 | 3,961 | 15.0 x 15.4 in |
| Duck Tourist | 67 x 92 | 4,133 | 13.2 x 18.1 in |
| Kitten Patissier | 73 x 105 | 5,178 | 14.4 x 20.7 in |
| Otter Manager | 71 x 96 | 5,051 | 14.0 x 18.9 in |
| Puppy Surfer | 75 x 84 | 4,574 | 14.8 x 16.5 in |
The eight together come to 36,584 beads; the twelve objects add 7,767 more, between 450 for the ice pop and 864 for the cart. If you’re new to big pieces, the Penguin Server is the smallest character, or start with a cone only 21 beads wide. The pack asks for enough compatible pegboards and the same bead size throughout. Standard 5 mm beads such as Perler fit the charts; Doodlora Studio is unaffiliated with the Perler brand.
32 colors to a character
Every character uses exactly 32 colors and every object exactly 20, each with its own numbered key, so the same code means a different shade from one pattern to the next. The codes aren’t any bead maker’s numbers. Use the hex values in the count CSV to match beads you own. The 20-color objects carry several shades that appear only a few times: nine of the ice pop’s colors are used for fewer than five beads each.
Each character is cut into four blocks at its halfway lines, so the Sailor Bear splits between columns 36 and 37 and between rows 51 and 52. Numbering continues across the four blocks with no overlap, and the count table printed on each block is the total for the whole animal. The ring center and the cart window are empty pegs.
The pack explains that the grids were calibrated from stylized pixel artwork rather than copied pixel for pixel, and the preview pages are drawn from the finished grid data, so they match the charts square for square rather than the original drawing. Physical fusing hasn’t been tested; an adult should handle the iron, and loose beads are a choking hazard.
