Alphabet Word Charm Fuse Bead Patterns: 26 Kawaii Words from Apple to Zebra

Instant downloadPDF, PNG

One word for every letter of the alphabet, spelled out in pixel letters inside a shape that matches it, so APPLE sits in a red apple, OCEAN in a blue fish and YELLOW in a smiling sun. These are whole-word pictures, not a set of single letters.

Twenty-six whole words make up this set of alphabet fuse bead patterns, one for every letter from A to Z, each spelled in blocky pixel capitals inside a little picture of what it means. APPLE is written across a red apple with a leaf, BUTTERFLY across lilac wings, ICE across a pale blue cube and QUEEN across a gold crown. If you came looking for a single-letter alphabet to spell names with, this isn’t that: every design is one whole word and one shape.

The 26 words

Apple, butterfly, cloud, daisy, earth, flower, gift, heart, ice, jellyfish, kitten, love, moon, nature, ocean, panda, queen, rainbow, star, teddy, unicorn, valentine, watermelon, xylophone, yellow and zebra.

A few of the pairings take a second look. EARTH is a smiling globe, MOON is a crescent resting on a lavender cloud, NATURE is a green leaf, OCEAN is a blue fish, VALENTINE is a pink heart pierced by a gold arrow, and YELLOW is a sun. Most of the shapes have a small face, and the xylophone is drawn with five colored bars and a separate mallet.

Sizes and bead counts

The grids run from 45 × 40 (ICE) up to 94 × 60 (WATERMELON), and a word takes between 1,399 beads (HEART) and 4,821 (FLOWER). That’s bigger than a typical charm. On standard 5 mm beads, the longest side comes out at roughly 9 to 18.5 in (22.5 to 47 cm), so most words need several linked pegboards. With 2.6 mm mini beads the same grids shrink to about 4.6 to 9.6 in (11.7 to 24.4 cm). No hanging holes are built into the designs, so if you want to hang one, plan where a loop or ribbon will go before you start. The xylophone’s mallet doesn’t touch the rest of the picture and fuses as its own piece.

Reading the charts

Each PDF page holds one word. The grid has row and column numbers on all four sides, a two-digit code printed in every filled square, and a color key underneath listing how many beads each code needs. Blank squares get no bead. The codes start again at 01 on every page, so 01 on the apple and 01 on the zebra aren’t necessarily the same color, and none of them are a bead maker’s color numbers; pick your own beads to match the swatches. Words use as few as 2 colors (LOVE, STAR, PANDA, NATURE and JELLYFISH) and as many as 8 (XYLOPHONE).

The PDF pages are for counting rather than laying beads directly on, since the grids are scaled to fit the page. The squares and codes are small on paper, so zoom in on screen or open the coded PNG of the same word, which is large enough to read every square. The plain pixel PNGs use one pixel per bead if you’d like to check a section against the original picture.

These charts work with standard 5 mm fuse beads such as Perler, or with 2.6 mm minis. Doodlora Studio isn’t affiliated with the Perler company. Fuse with an adult supervising.
